Hosted annually by Rancho Cucamonga High School, the Inland Empire Challenge is one of the region's top cross country invitationals. Join dozens of schools for a day of elite competition, excellent course conditions, and unforgettable finishes.

This Inland Empire Challenge section provides information about our meet. You can find more detailed information below regarding parking, meet day info and much more! Reminder, only schools from San Bernardino and Riverside county may compete in the meet.

Coaches, the deadline for changes is Tuesday, October 13th, 2026 at 6:00 PM.

Important Waiver Requirement

Please ensure you download and print the "Athlete Waiver". This is a new requirement given to us by both our school district and the SB Regional Parks Department. Bring your "Athlete Waivers" to the registration table at the meet.

Coaches please note: Freshmen who run in the medium and large school JV races will not be considered for grade level awards.

Be sure spectators know the park charges a $20. CASH, per vehicle entry fee. Registration will close on Tuesday, October 13th at 6:00 pm PDT. Please make all additions and/or changes to your registration before that time.

Transportation Concerns 2026

Please do not take the Archibald exit from Interstate 10, either East or West. The potential exists to block the freeway.

Bus Arrival and Spectator Parking Directions here...

  • Parking for spectators will be twenty dollars ($20), cash, per vehicle.
  • Gates open at 7:00 am for buses, 7:30 am for visitors. Buses will follow drop off route, then park in Bus parking area.
  • Spectators will be directed to park in designated areas. Please follow the Park and the parking monitors' directions.
  • If spectators arrive once the races are underway, be sure to give the runners the right of way, and exercise patience as you await parking monitors' instructions.

Bus Entry

Please do not take the Archibald exit from Interstate 10, either East or West. The potential exists to block the freeway.

From the East or West, take 10 Fwy to the HAVEN Blvd off ramp, then, turn North (towards mountains). At signal (Inland Empire Blvd.) turn left. Continue west and turn right on Turner Ave. and travel 1/4 mile to bus entry on left. Busses will be directed to drop off area and then parking.

Spectator Entrance Directions

From the East or West, take 10 Fwy to the HAVEN Blvd off ramp, then, turn North (towards mountains). At signal (Inland Empire Blvd.) turn left towards Archibald. Continue West and Turn right on Archibald and go to park entrance.

Pre-paid Parking

Travel West on Inland Empire Blvd to Turner Ave. Turn right and continue past the bus entrance gate. Turn Left into the next open gate, Follow the directions of the parking personnel. (gates open at 7:14)

Cost

  • $50.00 per team per race plus (5 or more athletes)
  • $12.00 per individual (4 or less per race)
  • $475 maximum for Large and Medium Schools
  • Small Schools max, $275 (Div IV & V)

2025 Recap

Another exciting Inland Empire Challenge is in the books. As we celebrated the 25th Annual Challenge that doubles as the County Championships for both Riverside and San Bernardino counties, there was little doubt that the runners came well prepared for excellent performances.

The defending champs from 2024 did not disappoint as Santiago dominated the Girls’ Sweepstakes race and Martin Luther King showed they were the class of the field on the Boys’ side. The Girls’ race was a much closer affair as Murrieta Valley put 4 girls in the top ten compared to Santiago’s 3. The Sharks’ depth came through helping squeak out a narrow victory 39 to 43. Individually, Braylin Combe ran an outstanding solo run, 16:21 followed by Elizabeth Jacklin’s 16:41, cementing each girl’s place in the top 5 all time runners in IEC history.

The Boys’ race was also a fairly close affair with MLK scoring a 24 point win over an excellent Ayala Bulldog team. The two teams scored the first 5 places of the race with Maximio Zavaleta finishing in an excellent 14:22, sixteen seconds ahead of Sophomores Bryson Caganap and Jack Paz, 14:42! Another upcoming So. From Hesperia helped to set the pace early on ran under 15 minutes, 14:59. He was preceded by two other MLK Seniors, Bradley Quesada and Logan Carlson.
